What Matter Is: The Winding Taxonomy and the Wake, Sorted by Lobes

Abstract. Matter is substance wound tight: a particle is a persistent torus-knot circulation state of the substrate, never a cloud and never a point-with-properties. This section paper consolidates the taxonomy: W = 0 open winding (neutrino, μν ≡ 0 — a direct discriminant against the rival's minimally-extended non-zero prediction); W = 1, the (1,1) unknot (electron; the positron is the same torus with reversed circulation sense, annihilation is unwinding); W = 3, the (2,3) trefoil (proton, protected by Δ(t) ≠ 1). The classification is knot theory, not parameter choice. The wake of each vortex sorts by lobe count — monopole occlusion (r⁻¹ potential), the ℓ = 2 magnetic face (r⁻³), the ℓ = 3 trefoil harmonic (r⁻⁴) carrying the native selection rule m₃ = 3k. The surface kinematics of the trefoil (seat velocity 1.8301c at Rp) supplies the traction that Section Paper IV builds nuclei from. The hierarchy problem dissolves into cross-section geometry: πRp² against πR☉², one pressure.

The proton's stability is topological protection, not a conservation postulate: no continuous deformation removes the trefoil's knottedness. The electron cloud of the textbook is a strobe artefact of a hard point on a tour (Paper 13); the measured boundary radius is a boundary radius — no charge substance is involved at any point.
2. The wake, sorted by lobes
The historically separate interactions are faces of one wake field. The native content of the angular sector is the trefoil's C₃ periodicity — allowed azimuthal numbers m₃ = 3k, transition rule Δm₃ ∈ {0, ±3, ±6, …} — and the power laws; multipole vocabulary is borrowed mathematics, labelled as such in the canon. The m = 3 fingerprint in the proton's own wake is the measured signature of the ℓ = 3 face.
3. The driven surface: where nuclear structure begins
The trefoil demands of its contact spations an angular rate twelve times what the relay can carry; the graded response is the wake hierarchy of §2. The same driven surface is the input to the traction-assembly account of the nucleus: two nucleon surfaces in rolling contact (no slip) must counter-rotate, and that meshing — not a separate force — is the bond (Section Paper IV; NP33). The nuclear-to-atomic gear ratio 3a₀mpc/(αℏ) = 1.03 × 10⁸ then places chemistry as the outermost floor of the same gear train (Paper 16).
4. The hierarchy, dissolved
The 10³⁶ electromagnetic-to-gravitational ratio is a ratio of occlusion cross-sections under one pressure — no new physics at any intermediate scale. The mass-ratio identity 6π⁵ = 3·(2π²)·π³ = 1836.118 (19 ppm from measurement) remains OPEN: exact and parameter-free as arithmetic, with the mapping to the displacement-volume ratio asserted, not derived.

Methodological declaration. No quark or gluon degrees of freedom, no gauge structure, and no wavefunction enters. Knot theory is used as mathematics; borrowed multipole vocabulary is flagged where it appears. Matter is substantive — wound tight, the hardest presence there is — never a hole, deficit, or probability distribution.
