The Grammar-Space Census Instrument: Coordinates, Enrichment, and the Instrumented Radius Ledger

Abstract. The census instrument plots every catalogued isotope in grammar space — abscissa nd − nt (deuteron excess), ordinate nd + nt (total subunit count). Because (nt, nd) ↔ (Z, N) is an invertible map, the plane is a lossless re-coordinatisation of the nuclide chart, and the display discipline follows from that fact: overlays expressible purely in the counts (magnetic character among them) are presented as views of the ledger, never as independent laws. This paper documents the instrument's data layer: 290 characterised isotopes; the 284-block boundary-radius enrichment (idempotent tool, reference dataset); the per-nuclide closure-schedule lines added under the 2026-07-30 canon alignment; half-life tier rendering; the two-grammar (He-4 / He-3) lineage sheets; decay vectors; and the nd = nt boundary. Two instrumented results ride on this layer: the triton-contraction rule (a triton draws the boundary radius inward — 88% of isotope chains, 90% of isobar steps, maximal at shell closures) and the closure-kink isotone census (instrument validated on known answers; constant kink along magic-N isotones; odd-N inward staggering at 83.1% with its shared-form scope stated).

1. Coordinates and the invertibility discipline
The map is invertible; the plane is the nuclide chart re-coordinatised so that construction lineages appear as lattice lines (horizontal families share triton count, vertical families share deuteron count). The discipline (NP24-A) is enforced at the instrument level: any regularity expressible purely in the counts restates the neutron ledger; the magnetic-character overlay is therefore labelled a view. What the coordinates buy is legibility of structure — lineages, the two-grammar split, the belts.

3. Instrumented results carried by the census
Both results are single-pass, whole-range, on instruments validated against known answers before use (Ca-48 −29.0, Cr-52 −28.4 milli-fm for the kink tool). The contraction rule is the radius-level face of the seat law — the interleave takes the least-resistance path inward. The kink census carries its scope on its face: the pairing account predicts the same staggering sign, so the two accounts share the form and the census cannot discriminate between them; its content is the direction, which is what the seat law asserts. Earlier isotope-blind instrumentation in this sector produced a reversed reading that was corrected when the isotope-resolved test was run — the correction is part of the record.
4. Interface
Pan middle-drag · zoom scroll · hover for the per-isotope decomposition panel (Z, symbol, grammar terms, subunit counts, closure-schedule line). Overlays toggle independently: element labels, shell bands, magnetic character (a count re-projection), decay vectors, lineage sheets, the golden boundary. The morph slider deforms grammar space back onto the conventional (N, Z) chart, making the re-coordinatisation visible as a continuous map.

Methodological declaration. The instrument displays measured data in grammar coordinates; nothing on the canvas is fitted. Instruments are validated on known answers before use; comparisons are whole-range and single-pass; overlays that re-project the ledger are labelled views. Where an account shares its predicted form with a rival's (the staggering sign), the census claims the direction only.
